ActivumSG acquired and merged two local senior housing developers to create Carestone Group GmbH, Germany’s largest developer of senior housing and care properties.
Recognizing the increasing demand for senior living facilities driven by Germany’s aging population, ActivumSG made its first move into the healthcare sector in 2016 by acquiring WI-IMMOGroup, followed by the acquisition of WirtschaftsHaus in 2018.
With the country facing a substantial shortfall in senior living beds, our team identified the need for a platform of scale in Germany’s fragmented market to deliver the required new stock. ActivumSG facilitated a corporate merger of the two entities, integrating operations, management and employees to form Carestone in 2019.
Under ActivumSG’s ownership, Carestone has strengthened its pipeline of own greenfield developments and standing facilities and is well positioned to address the accommodation needs of Germany’s aging population.
