ActivumSG identified a distressed opportunity to acquire and reposition a derelict site in the center of Malaga, recognizing its potential to meet the city’s growing demand for high-end hospitality.
Originally an 18th century Andalusian palace, the historic site had fallen into a state of severe disrepair following years of neglect before ActivumSG acquired the asset and transformed it into a 118-key luxury hotel.
Following the acquisition of the site, our ASG Iberia team worked closely with the city of Malaga as we undertook a meticulous and substantive restoration process to revitalize the asset while paying homage to its storied past, ultimately transforming it into a luxury hotel fit for modern day high-end hospitality use.
The restoration retained all of the building’s distinctive architecture, with eye-catching historical features including the original staircase and a grand façade adorning the building’s exterior.
During a second phase of redevelopment, ActivumSG added further value by consolidating three adjacent plots of land with the existing site. This expansion allowed for the creation of 50 additional rooms, a rooftop bar and a swimming pool with panoramic views over Malaga’s city center.
Complex repositioning and construction projects such as Palacio Solecio are only possible with a genuine in-country presence. The project not only elevated the asset’s profile but also contributed to the revitalization of the surrounding area.
