ActivumSG acquired a plot of underutilized industrial land in Meco, Madrid and enhanced its value by securing a strategic power agreement – an essential feature for data center development.
The acquisition of the 190,000 sq ft plot from two local manufacturing companies in 2021 followed an extensive analysis of the Madrid Municipality Electricity Grid to identify areas that would be most suited to data centre development.
Our ASG Iberia team secured a critical 25MW power agreement in 2022, enabling the connection of power to the site via a dual feed from a nearby electric substation in order to make the land viable for data center operations.
This transaction represented a significant milestone in ActivumSG’s emerging powered land strategy, culminating in the successful sale of the plot to a leading data center developer and operator in July 2024.
